But five years later, the world is again facing uncertainty. Job losses, food benefit delays, and economic pressures are leaving many neighbors unsure of how they’ll make it through the week. And just like in 2020, our volunteers are stepping up — shopping, baking, and delivering comfort right to someone’s doorstep.
As the requests for help continue to rise, we knew we needed to grow with the moment. That’s why I’m so proud to introduce The Amore Project — our new volunteer and matching portal designed to take Lasagna Love further and faster. It’s the heartbeat of our future, built to help us serve more families, more efficiently, and with more compassion than ever before.
The story of Amore started, like so many of our stories do, with a volunteer. Matt, one of our incredible volunteers who also works for Naico ITS Inc., noticed that our existing portal was struggling to keep up with the scale of our kindness. He reached out and said, “We can make this better.” And he was right!
From that spark, a two-year collaboration began; one that would become the largest investment Lasagna Love has ever made. Together with the brilliant minds at Naico, we dreamed up a system that was intuitive, more secure, and built for the future. A system that allows our volunteers to spend less time managing technology and more time connecting with their communities.
The Amore Project isn’t just a website. It’s the foundation that holds this movement together, the bridge between those who want to give and those who need a little love right now. It’s hosted on AWS for reliability and scalability, designed with data integrity and security at its core, and created with the future in mind, including an app to make volunteering even easier which is slated to be launched down the road.
What excites me most is what this means for our volunteers and our neighbors. The Amore Project will give us more accurate insights, more efficient matches, and the ability to share our impact with the world in new ways — contributing to the broader conversations around food insecurity, volunteerism, and community resilience.
But more than anything, it will help ensure that no neighbor is left unseen, and no act of kindness goes unmatched.
This GivingTuesday, December 2nd, as we celebrate our first matches through The Amore Project, I invite you to be part of this new chapter! Create a Virtual Lasagna — a symbolic way to support this powerful tool that connects kindness where it’s needed most. Because when you give through Lasagna Love, you’re not just funding technology. You’re helping families find comfort, volunteers find purpose, and communities find strength.
The Amore Project is a story of love, innovation, and community — proof that when kindness and technology come together, we can build a future that truly nourishes both body and soul.
Together, we’re cooking lasagnas and we’re creating the infrastructure of hope!
With gratitude,
Andria💛
