As the seasons begin to change, we’re rapidly entering a season traditionally dedicated to “giving.” In November, many of us gather with friends and family to give thanks for all the good things that have come our way. And in December, we shift our giving to gifting as we celebrate a slew of holidays devoted to considering how we can be a contribution in the lives of those we love, either through physical gifts, gifts of time or financial contributions to support organizations we love.
This holiday season is synonymous with tradition, and the traditions are as varied and diverse as our entire Lasagna Love Family. We are going to ask for your help to ensure everyone has the opportunity to be a part of a tradition this year.
November 29th is Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving that encourages people to “do good.” Since giving is at the heart of what we do at Lasagna Love, we’re excited to engage all of you to join us in this global movement that inspires millions to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity.
There are many ways to participate this year:
Direct Contribution
A financial gift allows us to allocate resources where they’re most needed. Every dollar you give goes directly to fulfilling our organization’s mission of feeding families, spreading kindness and strengthening communities.

Facebook Fundraiser
We are thrilled to announce that we’ve secured a generous match of $10,000. For every dollar we raise, a donor will match it dollar for dollar from now through Giving Tuesday. That means it’s time to put those outreach skills to work! Our goal is to host 200 Facebook fundraisers far and wide so that we can raise as much funding as possible in the 24-hour time frame of November 29. The funds we raise will help us cover the day-to-day operating costs of managing an international nonprofit like Lasagna Love.
Beyond the donations each of us Lasagna Chefs contribute when we make and deliver a meal, there are other costs necessary to sustain and grow our work, such as running our website, building an increasingly amazing portal for our volunteers, helping to get the word out through marketing, reporting, and more.

Amazon Smile
Amazon Smile is a program run by…you guessed it: Amazon! With Amazon Smile, Lasagna Love gets “love” from Amazon in financial form every time you make an Amazon purchase. Here’s how it works: Instead of going to the normal www.amazon.com website to make your online purchases, instead head to www.smile.amazon.com. You’ll find the website to be just as easy to navigate; it looks identical to the “standard” Amazon shopping page. On the Amazon Smile page, you are asked to select a charity that Amazon will donate to once you purchase your items. We hope you’ll choose Lasagna Love as your charity of choice! Then, when you purchase your items, Amazon donates 0.5% of the proceeds to Lasagna Love. And if you’re a mobile phone user, you can also easily turn on the Amazon Smile setting on your mobile app. Spread the love even further by sharing this information with your friends and family!
“Lasagna love have help me and my family so much, from not knowing what we will eat for the night. Lasagna love was always there when times was hard. Knowing we have a set meal every month is so helpful. It’s made with so much love and care, delivered fresh and hot. I’m a mother of twins and it get hard for me at times with food, between food pantry’s and lasagna love I’m not sure how we would be able to eat without the help.”
Employer Matching
Some companies utilized programs like Benevity that encourage employees to volunteer and will count your volunteer hours as working hours. In addition, you may get credit for your volunteer hours or you can partake in their donation matching program if they have one, depending on the company’s policy. This is a great way to get working credit for volunteering with Lasagna Love and a great way to donate to our organization. Consider asking your manager or HR representative if your company participates in matching programs like Benevity.
Double the Donation

“My husband passed away August 15th because of Covid, to say that it has been hard is an understatement. I requested a lasagna mostly because I wanted to feel the comfort of a home cooked meal. My husband was the cook in our home, I resort to very simple cooking. I received a lasagna a few days before Christmas which came at the perfect time. My son came from college and this was our Christmas dinner. This act of kindness brought so much joy and hope.”
